Things are really bad in Austin.
Millions of Texans without power. Many water treatments plants also down, thousands without water. Every hotel is sold out. Night temps in the single digits (fahrenheit). Frozen and bursting pipes in most my friends' homes.
Grocery stores closed; those that are open have lines hours long. Empty shelves.
Price gouging: reports of a local corner store charging $50 for four cup-of-ramens.
Half a foot of snow and ice outside, and no snow plows. Cell reception flaky. Worried about elderly that are stuck in the cold with no way to reach out for help.
I was in Houston during Hurricane Harvey, the colossal storm that flooded over 135,000 homes. This is on the same level of crisis.
And another storm is on the way.
I'm utterly exhausted.
