Is this our happy ending?

My most serious ex reached out yesterday to close one of our joint accounts.

I haven't had any contact with him in almost a year. He's married now.

I congratulated him and wished him the best.

I don't think we'll ever speak again.

He lives on an island with his new wife. He owns a very successful business. He learned how to sail, and spends his weekends on the ocean.

He is happy. Much happier than when we were together.

I bought a house in Austin, TX. I grow fruit trees and have the best friends. I write a blog that thousands of people read, and I spend my weekends making art.

I am happy. Much happier than when we were together.

And maybe this is the best ending our story could have had.
